How to keep the football pads clean and free from bacteria?

Before removing any kind of visible or loose dirt on the football, first, the football pads must be allowed to ‘breathe’ or they should be made to air dry after each use. Besides, it is a bad idea to stuff the dirty pads into a locker or a gym bag. This will result in an increase in bacteria and ultimately contribute to football pad funk.

Well, how to clean football pads and disinfect them?

• First, remove the pads from the football player and shake those vigorously to get rid of visible dirt, excrement, debris or grass.
• Next, keep the pads on the drop cloth; using a clean dry cloth, wipe off the remaining loose dirt.
• Soak a piece of cloth in warm soapy water; using this damp cloth, wash away the hard-to-remove dirt.

• Keep repeating the previous step until you are able to remove all the visible dirt and the soapy cloth has done with removing dirt from the football pads.
• Dry the pads using a clean dry towel.

Next, dampen a clean cloth with a solution of hydrogen peroxide. Use sufficient amount to moisten the entire football pad; inside and outside. Well, here, you can give the padding portion some kind of disinfectant treatment. Give a thorough application of a quality disinfectant sports spray. This kills the germs, bacteria and viruses on contact as well as keeps the football pads fresh and deodorized. If the pads have been neglected for a longer time, consider removing the padding and soaking it in a larger application of a good disinfectant sports spray.

• Make sure that you allow the pads to air dry thoroughly in between the disinfecting treatments and wearing.

Though there are a number of disinfectant sports spray flooding the market, the Clear Gear Disinfectant Sports Spray is easily the best one. Using this spray is the best way to clean football pads.
